Privacy Policy

What personal and credit information we collect, why we need it, who we share it with, and how you can access it, correct it or complain.

Last updated: August 2026 · Applies to Salib and Co Pty Ltd, trading as Beyond

1. Who this policy covers

This policy explains how Salib and Co Pty Ltd (ABN 17 692 063 059), trading as Beyond, handles your personal information. It applies to everything we do as a provider of credit assistance, including enquiries, applications, and the ongoing management of a loan we have arranged.

We are bound by the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the thirteen Australian Privacy Principles. Because we handle credit information, we are also bound by Part IIIA of the Privacy Act and the Privacy (Credit Reporting) Code.

2. The information we collect

The information we need depends on what you ask us to do. In a typical home loan matter it includes:

  • Identity information - your name, date of birth, residential address, contact details, and identification documents such as a driver licence or passport. We are required to verify your identity under the Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006.
  • Financial information - your income, employment, assets, liabilities, living expenses, bank statements, tax returns and financial statements.
  • Credit information - your credit history, existing credit accounts, repayment history, defaults, and any credit-related court judgments.
  • Property information - details of the property being purchased, refinanced or offered as security, and its valuation.
  • Household information - your marital status and dependants, where relevant to assessing your capacity to repay.
  • Sensitive information - only where it is directly relevant and you have consented, for example health information supporting a hardship application.

If you only browse this website, we do not collect information that identifies you. See section 12.

3. If you do not provide it

You are not obliged to give us any of this information. However, if you choose not to, we may be unable to assess your situation, recommend a suitable product, or submit an application on your behalf. In some cases we may be legally prevented from acting for you.

4. How we collect it

Wherever reasonably possible we collect information directly from you, in conversation, by email, through a form on this website, or in documents you provide.

We may also collect information about you from third parties, including credit reporting bodies, lenders and their mortgage insurers, your employer or accountant where you have authorised it, valuers, brokers or referrers who introduced you to us, publicly available sources, and our aggregator.

Where we collect information about you from someone else, we will take reasonable steps to make you aware of it.

5. Why we collect it

We collect, hold, use and disclose your information in order to:

  • assess your requirements, objectives and financial situation;
  • determine whether a credit product is not unsuitable for you and is in your best interests;
  • prepare and submit applications to lenders, and manage them to settlement;
  • verify your identity as required by anti-money laundering law;
  • administer and review your loan after settlement;
  • respond to your enquiries and communicate with you about your matter;
  • meet our obligations under the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009, our licensing arrangements, and any other applicable law; and
  • deal with complaints and disputes.

6. Credit reporting information

This section applies specifically to credit information and credit eligibility information, which receive additional protection under Part IIIA of the Privacy Act.

Obtaining your credit report

With your written consent, we or a lender may obtain a credit report about you from a credit reporting body. In Australia the main credit reporting bodies are Equifax, Experian and illion. Their own privacy policies, which explain how they handle your information, are available on their websites.

Disclosure to credit reporting bodies

A lender may disclose information about you to a credit reporting body, including that you have applied for credit, the amount, and information about your repayment history or any default.

Your rights with credit reporting bodies

You have the right to ask a credit reporting body:

  • not to use your credit reporting information for the purposes of pre-screening direct marketing by a credit provider; and
  • not to use or disclose your credit reporting information if you reasonably believe you have been, or are likely to be, a victim of fraud. They must not use or disclose it during the relevant period unless you consent or the law requires it.

You may also request access to, or correction of, the credit information a credit reporting body holds about you. They must generally provide access free of charge once in any twelve month period.

7. Who we disclose your information to

We may disclose your information to:

  • Lenders and credit providers on our panel, in connection with an application or enquiry;
  • Lenders mortgage insurers, where LMI applies;
  • Our aggregator and licensee, Purple Circle Financial Services Pty Ltd (Australian Credit Licence 486112), under whose licence we operate;
  • Credit reporting bodies;
  • Valuers, conveyancers and settlement agents involved in your transaction;
  • Your other advisers, such as your accountant, solicitor or financial planner, where you have asked us to;
  • Guarantors and co-applicants, to the extent necessary for the application;
  • Service providers who support our business, including document storage, customer relationship management, email and IT providers, all of whom are required to protect your information;
  • Referrers, where a party referred you to us, limited to confirming the status of your matter;
  • Regulators, courts and law enforcement, where required or authorised by law; and
  • A purchaser, if our business is sold or transferred.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone.

8. Overseas disclosure

Some of the service providers we use, particularly cloud software and data storage providers, may store or process information outside Australia. Where that occurs, it is typically in the United States, the European Union, New Zealand or Singapore.

Before disclosing information to an overseas recipient we take reasonable steps to ensure they handle it consistently with the Australian Privacy Principles. A current list of the countries in which our providers store data is available on request.

9. Direct marketing

We may contact you about your loan, about rate reviews, and about services we think are relevant to you. You can opt out of marketing communications at any time by replying to any message, using the unsubscribe link, or contacting us directly.

Opting out of marketing does not stop communications about an active application or loan, which we are obliged to send. We do not use sensitive information for direct marketing, and we do not use credit eligibility information for direct marketing.

10. How we keep it secure

We hold your information in secure electronic systems, and in paper files where relevant. We take reasonable steps to protect it from misuse, interference, loss, and unauthorised access, modification or disclosure. Those steps include access controls, encrypted storage and transmission, confidentiality obligations on our staff, and vetting of the providers we use.

No system is completely secure. If you believe your information has been compromised, contact us immediately.

Data breaches

If a data breach occurs that is likely to result in serious harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.

11. How long we keep it

We retain your information for as long as necessary to provide our services and to meet our legal obligations. Credit legislation generally requires records to be kept for at least seven years after a matter concludes, and anti-money laundering law imposes similar requirements. When information is no longer required and we are not obliged to keep it, we take reasonable steps to destroy or de-identify it.

12. This website

You can browse this website without telling us who you are. Our web host records standard server information, such as IP addresses and pages visited, for security and operational purposes.

13. Government identifiers

We do not use government identifiers, such as a tax file number or Medicare number, as our own means of identifying you. Where a document containing such an identifier is provided to us, we handle it only for the purpose for which it was given.

14. Accessing and correcting your information

You may request access to the personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it if it is inaccurate, out of date, incomplete, irrelevant or misleading.

Write to us using the details in section 16. We will require proof of identity. We will respond within 30 days. Access is generally free, though we may charge a reasonable fee for the cost of retrieving and providing extensive records. If we refuse access or a correction, we will explain why in writing and how you can complain.

15. Complaints

If you believe we have mishandled your personal or credit information, please tell us first. Contact details are in section 16.

We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and respond within 30 days. If we need longer, we will tell you why.
